Symbolic-Numeric Computation session at ICMS 2026  - Call for Abstracts

The International Congress on Mathematical Software 2026 will be held at Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, from 20-23 July 2026.

We, Rob Corless (Western University, Canada), Jürgen Gerhard (Maplesoft, Canada), and Erik Postma (OpenTeams, U.S.A.), are the Organizing Committee for the session on Symbolic-Numeric Computation, and we would like to solicit abstracts for presentation in our session.

Aim and Scope

This session is about any kind of computation on the boundary between symbolic and numerical algorithms. The definition of “symbolic-numeric” will be interpreted fairly broadly.

Topics (including, but not limited to)

Abstracts can be in plain text, LaTeX, or MS Word format and should be no longer than 500 words. Please submit your abstract by email to jgerhard at maplesoft.com before 1 March 2026. The Organizing Committee will review all the abstracts and send notifications of acceptance to the authors by 8 March 2026. Accepted speakers are expected to give their presentation in person at the conference.

All accepted speakers are eligible to submit an extended abstract for inclusion in the peer-reviewed conference proceedings, to appear in Lecture Notes in Computer Science. The submission process will be facilitated through EasyChair, and more details will be provided to the accepted speakers in March. The deadline for submission of extended abstracts is 28 March 2026.
